Adeyemi College of Education (ACE), Ondo has launched its first drone (unmanned flying aircraft).
It was in line with the Information Communication Technology (ICT) drive of the College.
Provost of the college, Prof Olukoya Ogen, said given the spate of violence, kidnapping, armed robbery and cult-related activities in the country, the acquisition of the drone was timely.
“The drone, ‘Inspire 2’, a state-of- the-art equipment loaded with the latest technology, is not just an ordinary drone.
“It is equipped with the latest GPS technology, obstacle avoidance and several sensors, as well as 4K cameras.
“The drone is capable of reaching up to 108km/h and can rise to a maximum height of 5000 metres,” he said.
It was acquired courtesy of the college’s pact with Prof Victor Mbarika, the Founding Executive Director of the International Centre for Information and Technology Development (ICITD), Southern University, Louisiana, United States.
It was the product of efforts to enhance the digital security of the college based on an MoU it signed with the Southern University last November.Become a fan on Facebook and Follow for our new updates.
