Anchor University Matriculates 117 Student For 2017/2018 Academic Session.
Anchor University, Lagos (AUL), a faith-based institution, at its second matriculation event over the weekend formally admitted 117 males and females students into various degree programmes.
In his address at the event, Professor Joseph Afolayan, the Vice-Chancellor, said the desire to build an institution that will be the envy of the world since the commencement of its operations in February 2017 remains unchanged.
“Today, we are taking a step closer to our goal as 117 students from the Faculty of Humanities, Faculty of Social and Management Sciences and the Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences are being formally accepted full members of the University.
“Anchor University is built on this ageless and firm Anchor with a clearly defined vision of bringing Christ to the centre of activities at the Ivory Tower. Today, there are many kinds of storms confronting our educational system as a nation and the world over. There are moral storms; there are storms affecting the very quality of our education; there are storms denying the world of good leadership. There is a sure Anchor that is certain to calm the fiercest of storms.
The VC affirmed that the mandate of the university is to ensure that every student that goes through the institution is properly anchored to become the best in anything they do.
He added: “Our drive is to raise an invincible generation of young and courageous leaders who will defend the truth and stand for the right no matter what comes their way. Our vision is to raise young men and women who will stand tall in righteousness and lead their peers in their chosen fields”.
According to him, the busy lectures and training series students are taken through were deliberate to instil discipline, diligence and dependence on God as they go through life daily on the Campus, saying that the consistent daily prayers and fellowship were meant to create a robust relationship with Christ in order to build the total man.
At the event that was preceded by the inauguration of the Parents Consultative Forum, the VC charged the new students shun all forms of indolence, saying “As an Anchorite, you must be willing to be led, willing to be trained and ready to obey the rules of the University”.
“Anchor University wants to stand tall to defend the degrees that will be awarded here because we will not sell them, they must be earned,” he added.
He commended the Chancellor of the University, Pastor (Dr.) William Kumuyi for his inimitable vision and foresight for the University, saying that the last 12 months have demonstrated that AUL is in great hands.Become a fan on Facebook and Follow for our new updates.
